Texas Students at Risk For Drop Out Get Help Through Online Learning

Roughly 28% of Texas students drop out of high school. With the ever increasing need for higher education to be able to have a good paying job, getting a high school diploma is essential.  Many students struggle with basic courses, and give up leaving high school, only to continue to struggle with low income and low paying jobs. In order to offer a chance at more possibilities when it comes to careers, the Texas education department has teamed up with Pearson Virtual Learning Program powered by Florida virtual school.

These online learning programs offer in reach prepaid card and credit recovery classes that can be started at any time during the year. Students can take tests to determine whether or not they have mastered a subject yet, and have dozens of courses to choose from. It is designed to help those low performing students to be able to recover their course credits and graduate. There are also some AP courses for those students who are ready to move ahead as well.

The courses go at each students pace.  They can determine if they want to move forward at an accelerated rate and get prepared for college early, or take their time in making up credits lost and still be able to graduate.

It is clear that Texas takes the education of its students seriously and wants to offer as much assistance and help as possible to those who struggle the most, so that they too may be able to experience the fruits of success, graduate, and move on to higher education. Texans are known for having bigger and better, and this adage remains true when it comes to education focused on those high school students that are at risk for dropping out.
