In any given day you will hear, see or read a story about illegal immigration issues in the US. This is especially true for any of the states that border Mexico. What is not mentioned very often is the irony of the situation. The United States spends billions of dollars overseas protecting the boarders of other nations, while their own borders remain as secure as a tunnel would be to retain a fisherman’s catch for the day.
In addition to this fact, the United States is paying for millions in welfare for illegal immigrants. They are providing medical services as well as allowing those children born to illegal immigrants gain automatic birthright citizenship. These programs are government mandated, and force the medical facilities as well as the America people to have to pay for services for those that are not even citizens of their country.
The US is currently struggling to cover the costs of their programs for their own citizens and it is confusing to say the least to see the government try to pay for those who ignore and break the law, and cause such a high financial burden to their citizens.
The US government should stop worrying about the borders of other nations, and secure their own. They should cut the programs that are encouraging illegal immigrants to come here, and allow for charities to take over the responsibility. They should consider a system that deals humanely with those that are already here, but not just give them amnesty for breaking the law. If the US government gave amnesty, then it would only encourage more illegal immigration. There must be respect for law, and for the citizens of a nation, those who were born there and those who took the legal steps to get there.
One of the best ways that the US can have good international connections with Mexico is to stand behind their own nations law, to be an example of what is good and right, rather then harboring, feeding and caring for those who consistently show no allegiance to their nation or their highest laws of the land.
